Hillel is here to…
"Provide a center for Jewish identity for college students in San Luis Obispo and to further develop Jewish interests in the community"
Hillel is the foundation for Jewish Life for both Cal Poly and Cuesta College. As a social and cultural club, Hillel of San Luis Obispo provides Jewish college students a nurturing environment to express their heritage. San Luis Obispo has a growing group of Jewish students who are dedicated to expanding the Jewish community in San Luis Obispo.
Current members are predominantly from Cal Poly State University and Cuesta College and we welcome anyone who wants to join. The surrounding community of San Luis Obispo often participates in Hillel sponsored events such as monthly Shabbat Dinners, community seder, or the Channukah Community Candle Lighting at the San Luis Mission.
Hillel of SLO plans social and community programming to enhance members' knowledge and understanding of Judaism as a whole. Reform, Conservative, and Orthodox Jews are all welcome. Our goal is to have fun and enjoy a rich Jewish identity during college, regardless of denomination. Our Hillel Board always welcomes new ideas and new faces.
